Comments:
My Great, great, great Grandparents were Perlina (Paulina) and Abram Callaway, and Giles and Martha Callaway were my Great, great Grandparents. Their daughter Melissa (Callaway), Mills, Ellis is my Great Grandmother, and she had my Grandfather by George Conrad of South Haven.
I've been a couple of years ago to Cass County Historical building, and Jon was a GREAT help to me. I need to come back down to do more research, and I'm still looking for any pictures of my relatives.

Earliest Known ancestor? Daniel Poor
Comments:
My g-g parents were Daniel and Malinda Poor they moved from N.Y.to Cass county in 1846, with their children Simon, Chauncey, Alonzo, Lorenzo D. F. and Jane. Their son Charles N Poor had already located in Cass.
Simon Boliver Poor was well known in Cass and surronding counties. He was a Blacksmith as was his brother Charles and their father Daniel, they bought and sold land as well as farming. Simon married Mary E Higgins 30 Jun 1861. Simon and Mary are in the History of Van Buren County published 1912. They are buried in the Hamilton Cemetary.

If anyone has information on Mary E Higgins who moved to Cass county when she was six (1846)with her parents William Higgins and Nancy Berry Higgins, I would love to here from them. I will gladly share what I have on the Poor(e)s and McAllisters.

Pam

Comments:
I have 2 sets of ancestors that came to Cass County. One set, Haynes Parker family, came from Logan Co OH - a bunch from the Tharp Run Baptist Church to set up a new church.
The other, John Cole & Sopia Bates, came from VT via Buffalo, NY and were early settlers of Prairie Ronde twsp.
I am having a lot of trouble finding John P Cole's burial in Cass Co around 1847.
I'll put this site on my favorites list.

Regards, Betty Whipple
