Little Red Excelsior Diary year 1876.
NOTE: from Elizabeth D. Smith I have transcribed this diary as it is written by a young girl who lived in Hillsdale County. She is believed to be Warner Sampson's sister, Laura L. Sampson. She was 12 years younger than Warner and from the writing it is apparent that Warner is married to Emma and they all live together during some of this time. It can not be Myrta’s since she is talked about in the diary the years of birth/death don’t make it possible. The father that is mentioned so many times in the diary has to be John W. Sampson, my great great grandfather. “Father” is going to Addie’s early in the diary. The writer is also going to see “Addie” in one of the later pages of the diary and that would have been my great grandmother “Adeline” and sister of Laura. This has been a labor of love for me to live one year of this young girl’s life and see some of history through her eyes.
