The Busenbark School District #4 is located in the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 2, Township
21 North, Range 2 East, Horton Township, Ogemaw County, on Airport Road at Peach Lake Road. It was originally
located on the Wildview Farm, which was the home place of Lera Lewis and her family. The building was later moved
to one acre of property owned by Harry Busenbark, who was Superintendent of Schools. The property is located
on Cabin Lake Road, east of Peach Lake Road. There is an old cabin on this property which is visible from
the road. Later the school was moved to its present site on Peach Lake Road, just south of Cabin Lake Road.
According to James Busenbark, in order to have the school most conveniently located for its students, it was
moved as needed.
Again, records are sparse and if you have any information on the Busenbark School you are asked to contact
the Ogemaw County Coordinator, Grace Dooley. |
