The O'Connor School District #2 is located in the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 7,
Township 23 North, Range 4 East, Hill Township, Ogemaw County, on Shady Shores and Wiltse Roads. The school
was at first "a tar paper shack" but in September, 1935 work was begun on a 48' by 40' frame building with a
basement by Dan Swartz. It was made a high school in 1934. This District was annexed to Rose City School in 1966. The school burned after it closed. Few records exist on who donated the land, who built the school, or who taught there. If you have any information concerning the O'Connor School, you are asked to contact the Ogemaw County Coordinator, Grace Dooley. Most of the existing records have been compiled by The Rose City Area Historical Society, Post Office Box 736, Rose City, MI 48654 |
