Oldest of 6 siblings, Emily (b:1853 OH), Amanda (b:1852 OH), Melissa (b:1857 IN), William (b:1859 IN), John (b:5/1860 IN).

Was promised to marry Hiriam Strauser, had child by him in 1863. Hiriam died in Danville, IL before they were able to be married.

There is a story about Losina having a sow with a batch of little pigs. Each night a bear would sneak in and kill a little one. Losina got tired of the waste and loss of potential food. She hid near the pig pen and waited for the bear. When the bear arrived she jumped up and stabbed it with a kitchen knife and killed? it. They were living in the Newago area when this happened. In 1880 they had a farm in Section 8 of Olive Township. By 1918 they had moved from the farm and owned a house and lot in West Olive Village. In 1910 they were living in District 2 of Burdell Township in Osceola Township. Losina applied for a widow’s Civil War pension in November of 1923 after Charles’ death.

Carolus Tuttle had one crippled foot. His big toe turned toward the smaller toes and the smaller toes lay over it. When buying new shoes he would cut a hole in the top of the shoe and one in the sole. Next he would have an extra piece of leather sewn on top and have both shoes half soled to make the height even.
