Willoughby Family of Chester Township

Byron D. Willoughby was born in Chester, Ottawa County, Michigan on 5 May 1858. His parents were John and Hellen (maiden name unknown), both born in New York state. Other children of John and Hellen were: Burdette, born about 1860, and George, born about 1863, and Melissa born about 1866.

Byron married Amelia Marsh on 1 March 1879 in Petoskey Emmet County, Michigan. They had three children first was James Earl born on 21 April 1880, in Bear Lake Township, Charlevoix County, Michigan. My Grandmother Julia Catherine was born on 20 July 1884 also in Charlevoix County, Michigan. Hewitt J. Willoughby was born in 1888 but where I am not certain.

The 1910 census shows that Byron, Julia, and Hewitt are all in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, and indicates that Byron is an engineer on the railroad. The 1900 census shows that Amelia and Julia are living in Bear Creek, Emmet County Michigan and that Amelia is now married to Frank Jones. The 1880 census shows Byron, Amelia and James are living in Bear Lake, Charlevoix County, Michigan. The 1870 census shows Byron living with his parents John and Hellen, along with Burdette, George, and Melissa in Chester, Ottawa County, Michigan. The 1860 census shows that Byron and his parents are living in Chester, Ottawa County, Michigan.

Julia Catherine married Herbert Oscar Easton on 26 June 1912, in Everett, Snohomish County, Washington. They had twin girls born on the 12 August 1916, Carol Fay, and Clara M. Easton. The 1920 census shows them in Outlook Precinct, Snohomish County, Washington. The 1930 census shows them to be in Anacortes, Skagit County, Washington at 2010 L Avenue which they were renting. Herbert was working in a pulp mill as crew foreman.  Herbert was born in Michigan, the son of Byron Adelbert Easton, who also was born in Michigan.
