William Campbell, Coopersville Observer, May 1921

Lamont—William Campbell, a veteran of the Civil War, has died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. W. Lillie, Sunday morning, May 1, 1921. Funeral services were held from the residence Tuesday afternoon. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Lamont Michigan. (Exact burial in cemetery is unknown.)

William Campbell served in Co. F, 2nd Michigan Cavalry He was taken prisoner with the train at Crawfish Ferry, September 20, 1863, released as prisoner in 1864 and discharged 1865. (military records)

William Campbell married Charlotte M. Angell, third daughter of Daniel and Olive Angell on January 20, 1860. To this union one child was born, Dora H. Lillie. Charlotte remarried on December 25, 1891. (Obituary of Charlotte Angell)

William leaves one daughter, Dora H. Lillie and one granddaughter, Lottie I. Laug.
