Obituary of Peter Lievense

JACKSON-Peter Lievense, 76, former Chief of Police of Holland, died unexpectedly this morning at his home in Jackson. (MI) Mr. Lievense was police chief at the time of the First State Bank holdup in Holland in 1932 and was wounded when struck by a bullet.

He was born in Holland and in 1935 moved to Jackson where he served as a guard at the Michigan State Prison. During the last 14 years he conducted a Merchant Police business.

Surviving are the wife, Grace of Jackson; four sons, Robert of Michigan City, Ind., Willard of Jackson, Stanley of Traverse City, and George of Holland; a daughter, Mrs. Harley (Ruth) Waterfall of San Francisco, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; a brother, Frank M. Lievense Sr., of Holland, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jake Lievense of Holland. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
