Mrs. Emily Dearborn – 12 Mar 1936

Mother of Mrs. Charles H. McBride who for sometime has made her home with Attorney and Mrs. McBride, 280 College Avenue, passed away early Wednesday morning at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Dearborn is better known as Mrs. Stephen Lowing, and was born in Jamestown, MI.

Mr. Lowing died in 1891 and Mrs. Charles McBride was a child of that union. In other words she is a Lowing.

Mrs. Lowing remained a widow for thirteen years and then was wed to Mr. Dearborn. The funeral is to be held today (Friday) at 2 o’clock this afternoon from the McBride home, Dr. Thomas W. Davidson, pastor of Hope church and her personal pastor of Grand Rapids officiating. Interment will take place in Georgetown Cemetery.

Mrs. Lowing Dearborn is survivied by two daughters, Mrs. Charles McBride of Holland, Mrs. M. B. Hopkins of Detroit; five grandchildren, Mrs. George Kendt of Detroit, Mrs. Maxine McBride, Horgan and Marjorie McBride of Boston, and Mrs. Don Crawford of Detroit; five great grandchildren also survive.

It is quite a coincidence that Mrs. Lowing’s only sister, Mrs. Julia Sinclair died Sunday in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Dearborn was unaware of the death of her sister.
