Blinn Dumas

Blinn Dumas was born in New York State, August 22, 1848 and died in Coopersville, September 23, 1910, aged 62 years, 1 month and 3 days.

Mr. Dumas was the son of Abraham Dumas and spent his childhood and youth in the vicinity where he was born. His mother died when he was a young lad. He came to Michigan in 1880, and settled in Coopersville. Later he located to Nunica where he lived on a farm. After the death of his first wife, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Margaret Dickinson in 1893 and moved back to Coopersville to the home from, which with tender memories, he was carried forth to his last rest. He was a great sufferer during the past three years, and especially so during the last two weeks of his illness.

He is survived by his wife and adopted son, Warren, and the following children from his first marriage: Herman Dumas, Mrs. Herbert McMann and Mrs. Fred Nelthorpe, both of Muskegon.

He was a kind father, a good husband, an honest, upright man. He was a member of Coopersville Lodge No. 376 I. O. O F, and Bartholomew Post, No. 136, having served throughout the Civil War in Company H, Regulars, Third New York Cavalry.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Odd Fellows Hall, Rev. F. W. Halst officiating, under the auspices of the Odd Fellows and G. A. R. Post.
