Fayette Eseltine

Fayette Eseltine was born in Malono, Franklin County, New York in 1843, the son of Shadrick Eseltine and Mandana Emery Eseltine. Fayette Eseltine enlisted in the 193rd New York Infantry, Company G, on March 14, 1865, at the age of 21, and was mustered out on January 18, 1866, at Harper’s Ferry, N. VA. His Civil War military records state that he had gray eyes and brown hair, was 5 ft. 7 ¼ inches tall and was a farmer. The 1880 census lists Fayette, his wife Margaret and 2 children, Franklin John and Nellie M., as living in Allendale, Michigan. Franklin John was born about 1875 and Nellie M. was born about 1878. Fayette Eseltine was buried in Allendale Township Cemetery in Allendale, Michigan on November 10, 1898.
