Hillman, Benjamin, Coopersville Observer, January 1930

Benjamin F. Hillman was born in Erie County, New York, September 27, 1877, and died at his farm home near Coopersville, January 5, 1930, after a long illness.

His earlier life was spent in New York, after which the family moved to Michigan, locating on a farm near his present place. When a young man, he answered his county’s call during the Spanish American War, and served in the army three years.

On his return home he was married to Mae Spores, who lived but a short time.

In 1910, he married Nellie Spores. He leaves to mourn, the widow and following children: William, Harold, Mary, Eldon, Helen; two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were held at the family residence, in the presence of many friends and relatives, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Tuma. Howard Irish and Horace Walcott, accompanied by Mrs. H. Irish at the family residence, in the presence of many friends and relatives, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Tuma. Howard Irish and Horace Walcott, accompanied by Mrs. H. Irish at the piano, sang "Beautiful Island of Somewhere," and "Nearer My God to Thee." Interment was in the Advent Cemetery.
