Charles R. Mickam

C. R. Mickam was born in the town of London, Monroe County, Michigan, March 31, 1838. At the age of 6 years, 8 months, he with his father and mother, moved to Lamont where he resided at the time of his death. At the age of 22 years he was married to Miss Lydia Ackley and at the age of 29 years he joined the M. E. church at Lamont, of which he was a faithful member at the time of his death which occurred on October 24, 1893,

He was 65 years of age, and leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss: Malcolm, L. D., Eddie, Frank, Arthur, and Mrs. Benjamin Rankans. His funeral services were held from the Lamont M. E. Church by the pastor, assisted by the Rev. W. H. Frye of Grand Rapids (Coopersville Observer Obituaries by Boersma)

Charles Mickam was a Civil War veteran and served in Co. C, 10th Michigan Cavalry. He is buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Lamont, Michigan.
