Widely-Known Robinson Resident Dies

Mrs. Jason (Nellie L.) Pelton, 108 S. Second Street, died Thursday at Municipal Hospital. She was 88 and had been hospitalized for the past week.

Born 22 Nov 1878 in Zanesville, Ohio, the former Miss Nellie Stearns married Jason Pelton in 1900. He died in 1919.

Mrs. Pelton lived in Robinson Township until four years ago when she moved to this city (Grand Haven). She was a member of the Methodist Church of the Dunes and of the Sarah Circle of the Woman’s Society of the church. She also was a charter member of Robinson Extension Club and the former Robinson Township treasurer and belonged to the Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary. She served as treasurer of the Ancient Order of Gleaners for 37 years.

Mrs. Pelton retired in 1945 after working for the U. S. Post office here for several years.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Luella) Krumpeck of this city; a son, Fred, also of this city; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. May Berg of Robinson Township and her twin, Mrs. Elwin Blakely of Muskegon and a brother, Frank Stearns of Rolfe, Iowa. A son, George, and a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Schwiefler, preceded her in death.

The body is at the Van Zantwick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nellie L. Pelton, aged 88, passed away Thursday afternoon in Municipal Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 1:30 p.m. from the VanZantwick Chapel with the Rev. Albert Frevert officiating. Interment in Robinson Township Cemetery. Friends may meet the family beginning at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon at the Van Zantwick Funeral Home.
