Reuben Randall

Lamont—One of the oldest and most respected citizens of this village passed away at his home here Friday morning, October 3, at 9:30. Reuben Randall was born in Portage County, Ohio, in 1836, and moved with his parents to Michigan in 1843, locating in Lamont. He enlisted at the first call for volunteers in 1861, serving in the Third Michigan Regiment, and was wounded in the Battle of Fair Oaks. For the past four years Mr. Randall had no relief from pain but he bore this burden patiently and often a sympathetic inquiry was passed off as a joke. He leaves a widow and seven children to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted at the house, Rev. Allingham officiating. The remains were conveyed to Maplewood Cemetery and laid to rest by some of his old comrades.
