Pvt. Joseph J. Robinson

J. J. Robinson, one of Lamont’s oldest and most respected citizens died at his home Tuesday evening. They are going one by one, those dear old people whom we have learned to love. Obituaries of the Coopersville Observer by Boersma

Joseph Robinson served in Co. A, 135th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War.

Union Regimental Histories of Indiana states "The 135th Regimental Infantry was organized at Indianapolis, Indiana, ordered to Tennessee, mustered in May 23, 1864, and assigned to duty as Railroad Guard in Tennessee and Alabama, Dept. of Cumberland, until September. Regiment was mustered out September 29, 1864. Lost by disease during service 28 men."

Joseph Robinson also served as the secretary of the board of Maplewood Cemetery.

Joseph Robinson was born March 14, 1831, in Indiana, son of John Robinson, born Virginia, and Dora McRea. He died December 5, 1916, from heart disease, age 85-8-21, and is buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Lamont, MI. Informant, Dora Robinson
