Gravestone of Arie Rot

    Arie Rot was born 4 October 1837 in Zaandam, Noord Holland, Netherlands.  He served with the 25th Michigan Infantry, Company I, and died in Louisville, KY on November 22, 1862.
His name is on the Civil War Historical marker in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Holland, Michigan but he is buried in Cave Hill National Cemetery, Louisville, KY.  He was the brother of Katherine (Rot) DeKraker.
    Arie is mentioned in the books, My Country and My Cross by Al McGeehan, and Jan Van Lente's Civil War Letters of Johannes Van Lente.  Johannes and Arie were tent mates in the Civil War.
