Susan Howe White Seekins

Mrs. Susan Seekins, aged 78 years, died Wednesday, July 12, 1911, at her home in Lamont. The deceased had been a resident of this place for the past forty years. She leaves one brother, Charles T. Howe, of Pipestone, Minnesota, one sister, Mrs. O. Simmons, of Lamont, and other relatives to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 15, in the Congregational church, Rev. W. D. Klug of South Haven, officiating. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery.

After her first husband James White died, Susan married James Seekins, a Civil War veteran from Wisconsin, born about 1833 in New York, who enlisted in Co. E, 16th Wisconsin Infantry, during the Civil War, according to the Tallmadge, Ottawa County, MI, 1890 Veterans Census.

Susan and James were apparently divorced. Susan registered as Susan White for the 1900 U. S. census of Lamont, Ottawa, Michigan.
