Obituary of Bernard Ten Harmsel

Age 82 of Zeeland – died Wednesday, 29 Nov 2006 at the Spectrum Meijer Heart Center. He was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed church, where he served as an elder. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U. S. Army. He was one of the early leaders of the Calvinist Cadet Corps. He was a delegate to the Christian Reformed Church synod of Dordt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne (2000); and by his twin brother, Tony Ten Harmsel; brother Herman Ten Harmsel; and sisters, Henrietta Bredeweg and Jean Pott. He is survived by his children Larry and Mieke Ten Harmsel, of Kalamazoo, Lois and Bill DeMots of Adrian, Le___ and Luanne Ten Harmsel of Holland, Lila and Craig Meyer of Zeeland, Vern and Star of Zeeland, Linda and Leonard Bareman of Holland; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Marinus Pott of Holland, Don and Harriett Jager of Fennville, Berdena Vanden Bosch of Zeeland, Mrs. Tony (Arlene) Ten Harmsel of Holland, Leonard and Hermina Sytsma of Wheaton, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sy and Margaret Disselkoen of East Saugatuck, Russell and Helen Koets of Sant____; friends at the Herman Miller store and Community Restaurant. The family would like to thank the excellent caregivers at Zeeland Community Hospital and at the Meijer Heart Center.

Funeral services will be 3:00 Saturday, 2 Dec 2006 with one hour of visiting prior to the service at Bethel Christian Reformed church, 541 E. Main Street in Zeeland. Rev. Henry Vanden Heuvel will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Groningen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, 1 Dec 2006, at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street.
