Vriesland Native Passes Sitting in Car

Evert (Ed) Ver Hage, 82, prominent Vriesland resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home there Monday afternoon, while sitting in a car engaged in conversation with a son. Mr. Ver Hage had been ill for some time.

Mr. Ver Hage was stricken as he sat talking with his son, Dick, in the latter's automobile.

He is survived by his widow, the former Jennie Hoffman; two son, Cornelius of Holland and Dick of Hudsonville; five daughters, Mrs. John VanderKolk of Byron Center, Mrs. Jacob Terpstra and Mrs. Albert Reimink of Holland. Mrs. Gerald DeZwaan of Hudsonville and Mrs. Richard Poest of Zeeland. He also leaves two stepsons, Dr. C. E. Boone, and John Boone of Zeeland, and five step-daughters, Mrs. Ben TerHaar of Holland, Mrs. Cathryn Jager and Mrs. Benj. Buikema of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Oliver DeJonge of Ludington and Miss Anna Boone of Detroit.

The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:15 at the residence and 2 o'clock at Vriesland Reformed Church, with Rev. John Pott officiating. Interment will be in Zutphen cemetery. The body will repose at Baron Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Thursday.

Mr. Ver Hage was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Ver Hage and was born in Viresland, where he had lived his entire life.
