Wm. Whipple, Jr., Is Dead

William Whipple, Jr., who for many years served the county as county agent and who was one of the best known of the old residents, died at his home in Hudsonville after a long illness. Deceased was the son of Stephen Whipple and was born in Farmington, N. Y. 67 years ago, but came to Michigan when he was but a lad of 14 years of age.

For about sixteen years he was mail clerk on the Chicago & West Michigan R’y., after which he settled on a farm in Georgetown, where he lived until failing health compelled him to give it up and move into Hudsonville. He was a veteran soldier and served in the Civil War.
He served as township clerk, justice of the peace and county agent, which latter office he held up to practically the time of his death. His wife and son, Fred G. Whipple, of Grand Rapids, survive him.

The funeral was held at Hudsonville Saturday morning,
