                     E. W. Phelps dies at Rogers City

 

Mr. Edward W. Phelps passed away at the Rogers City hospital Monday morning
after more than a year�s illness. Born May 5, 1906 in Gardiner, Mass., he married the former Mrs. Gracia Losey
in Hillsdale on January 1, 1932. He came to Millersburg in 1951 as Superintendent of
the Millersburg school from a similar position in Hillsdale. He was very active in
community affairs and at the time of his death was Chairman of the County Republican
Committee; past chairman of the Michigan Education Association, member of the
Onaway Masonic lodge. Surviving are his widow Gracia; his two sons, Lewis 10 Barrie 9. They live at
Rogers City. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 o�clock at the Millersburg
Methodist Chuuch with the Rev. John Greer officiating and the Rev. Edward Tillitz,
assisting. Following the services here the body was taken to Hillsdale where a second
service was held from the Osseo Methodist Church with the Rev. Albert Wright
officiating. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery at Osseo � Onaway News June 19, 1958.
