CAPTION: The Community of Onaway was saddened at the death of a prominent area merchant, July 22, 1979. Arthur Grainger, 72, owner of the Grainger Market passed away at Russell Memorial Hospital following a two-month illness. Grainger was a member of the Onaway Community Federal Credit Union and was a past director of the Onaway Chamber of Commerce. In other Onaway news, the Lite Riders 4-H Horse Club sponsored an open all-youth open horse show, July 14, at the Millersburg 4-H Arena. Several local businesses helped sponsor classes for the show. Many 4-H members of Presque Isle County 4-H horse clubs participated in the show. One of the big attractions was the Jack Benny class where the parents and anyone who hadn’t shown a horse before could take part. The first-place winner was Mrs. Audrey Badgero; and second, Mrs. Robin Grainger.
