CAPTION: The medal of honor was posthumously awarded to Presque Isle County sheriff Duane Badder by the American Police Hall of Fame of Florida. Presque Isle County sheriff Mike Peltz presented the medal and a plaque to widow Barbara Badder. The award states that it was given in "public recognition of the honor in which we will forever hold his name by placing his name in the Hall of Fame memorial so that his sacrifice, his dedication to humanity and justice will always be remembered by generations to come." In other Onaway news, the Onaway City Commission approved wording of the Onaway Courthouse Building ballot question that faced city voters. The estimate of the courthouse restoration was placed at $550,000 and that cost was expected to increase at a rate of 10 percent a year. Commissioner Charles Abshagen moved that the ballot question be adopted.
