 				GRANT SCHOOLCLUTE SCHOOL Grant School was also called Clute School and was located in Maple Grove Twp. in
Cheboygan County and was part of Tower School District. In 1942 Maple Grove Twp. became part of Forest Township.
The school is located (T.33 - R.1E. Sec. 8 NW �, NW �, SW �.. It
was located two miles west on the Clute Rd. from the intersection of
the Clute Road (Stone School) & Centerline Rd. TEACHERS Virgil Faircloth � 1934, 1935, 1936Ester Dumpsh(Esther Dumsch?) � 1937 STUDENTS Jack TuckerDraper ChildrenSanger ChildrenBailey Children According to Cassie Minser's notes that when the Grant School closed the studentspwere
moved to Maple Grove Town Hall and school was held there. Jack Tucker remembers that the state bought farms in Grant District and burnt them
then made the land part of Pigeon River State Forest. Virgil Faircloth, the first teacher, remembers he was paid $35 per month and that he
