CAPTION: Donald Baker, a 15-year-old sophomore at Onaway High School, advanced to Scouting's highest level when he was promoted to Eagle Scout, Aug. 7, 1979. Earner of 21 merit badges in Scouting since he joined Onaway's Troop 68 four years before, Baker said he wanted to become a mathematician. During his membership in Troop 68, the young Scout served as patrol leader, den chief, quartermaster, scribe, bugler and was a member of the Leadership Corps. A recipient of the God and Country Medal, he also excelled scholastically and maintained an A average during his freshman year of high school. During ceremonies prior to presentation of the Eagle Scout, the Rev. Charles Ball delivered an invocation and Baker presented certificates of appreciation following a potluck dinner.
