1966 Principal Donald Holmes Explains High School Dress Code and Michael Chapman Promoted to Sergeant From Presque Isle County Advance and Onaway Outlook August 18, 2016

  
CAPTION: From the desk of principal Holmes (1966): Appropriate dress must be worn in school at all
times.  Boys must have neat haircuts worn approximately an inch and a half above the eyebrows.  also, 
hair must be combed.  They should wear clean slacks or jeans.  Shirts cannot be unbuttoned lower than
the second button down and shirttails must be tucked into pants.  Girls must have faces fully visible.  
Hair must be worn approximately and inch above the eyebrows.  They should wear skirts and blouses
or sweaters or dresses.  Blouses must be tucked into skirts.  The exception is squared blouses specifically 
made to worn outside. "Most of our students have not fallen for the so-called shaggy hair styles and other
forms of attired which are being banned.  Students not abiding by the rules were to be suspended.  In other
Onaway News, Michael Chapman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Chapman of Onaway, who was with the U.S. Army in
Vietnam was promoted from Specialist 5 to Sergeant.
