CAPTION: Albert Ellenberger Lumber Company was having its big spring sale. A deluxe rake cost only $2.99 and a long-handled utility shovel was marked down from $2.95 to $1.99. In other Onaway News, Mayor William J. Robinson designated May 5 as "Onaway Day." He also proclaimed it to be improvement day, "And suggest that all citizens endeavor to make some improvement of their premises." And in other news, a mass band was ready to convene at the high school. There was a parade involving high school bands from Rogers City, Onaway, Gaylord and Petoskey. Then, 375 students were going to come together for one performance. The program was going to be filled with fast moving marches, modern overtures and popular ballads. "Anyone who loves music will thrill to hear and witness this spectacular event," stated an Onaway News article.
