CAPTION: Forty-four years ago, Onaway High School was celebrating homecoming week, just as it is this week. Everyone, from the players, cheerleaders, band and merchants were gearing up for a time of rejoicing and pride in the "Cardinal halls of learning." The co-captainsof the 3-1 football team were Ken Baker and Jim Holmes. The band had almost 50 members, including a half dozen majorettes. There were just as man cheerleaders. The band formed a crown in the middle of the football field before junior Sandy Havel was announced as the queen. The band remained in its crown formation as the queen and her court left the field. The Cards won the game, 34-0 over Mancelona.
