CAPTION: Airman Jerry F. Madden, son of Clifford Madden of Onaway, was selected for technical training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, as a United States Air Force air policeman. The airman completed basic training. His new school was part of the air training command that conducted hundreds of specialized courses to provide techinical training. Madden graduated from Onaway High School in 1965. In other Onaway News, the Cardinal basketball team bowed to Alpena Catholic High. Alpena led at halftime, 31-14, and went into a stall in the second half. They just held the ball and held Onaway to only two points; however, they did not score during the quarter. The Bolts pressed the Cards in the fourth and put up 17, while holding the Red Birds to one. Many of the spectators booed the stall. Art Nash was high scorer with eight points. Clark Chapman picked up the only point scored in the second half.
