CAPTION: Onaway's most outstanding athletes were honored at an awards' ceremony. The all-sports award, presented each year to a male and female graduating senior who lettered in two sports was presented to Mark Pomranke and Joni James. Pomranke lettered in footbal, track and field, and wrestling and James earned varsity letters in track and field and girls' basketball. Also named during the athletic awards' presentation were the winners of the Claude Morrison awards that went to Irma Bishop and Tom Ball for athletic and academic achievement. In other Onaway news, Onaway rolled up 11 hits in the second win of the season in bicounty league play. Led by winning pitcher Paul Freel, Onaway scored seven runs to win the road game at Maple Ridge, 7-5. Tim Schaedig and Rich Walters each had three hits apiece...Congratulating the Onaway High School Class of 1979 were B & C Family Center, Beatty's Village Corner, Onaway Floral Design and Merrick's Grocery at Black Lake.
