1979 - Onaway High School Announces Top Three Graduates...and...Parents Complain and Students Boycott Hot Lunch Program From Presque Isle County Advance and Onaway Outlook March 28, 2019

  
CAPTION: Onaway High School will graduate 95 students in 1979.  Leading the class
in academic achievements were 22 students headed by Patricia Guzzo, valedictorian;
Lori Gillett, salutatorian and Shelley Perkins.  Guzzo maintained a grade point average
of 3.940 during her four years of high school.  She planned to attend Northwestern
Michigan College in Traverse City.  Gillett had a GPA of 3.910. In other Onaway news, 
parent complaints and a student boycott of the Onaway Area Schools hot lunch program
caused a special meeting of the board of education.  As a result of a workshop meeting, 
board members voted to eliminate chocolate milk from the regular lunch program in Onaway,
Tower and Millersburg schools.
