CAPTION: Onaway High School was getting ready to celebrate homecoming week with Cheboygan coming to town for an 8 p.m. game. The tradition of a parade and floats was going strong in 1967. Back then, the parade started at City Hall and proceeded along Washington Avenue to Second Street. The candidates for queen were: seniors Sue Brown and Linda Walters; juniors Shirley Macgregor and Anna Olson; sophomores Serena Warren and Jeri Dixon; and freshmen Debbie Painter and Marlene Tucker. In other Onaway News, the new score board went up at the football field. "The score board and control booth now have been completed and they add very much to the field," the Onaway News reported, Sept. 21, 1967.
