CAPTION: Onaway Teacher Craig Otis (left) was among 65 educators from across the state who graduated from a driver education institute at the University of Michigan. Scholarships for those attending were provided by the Automobile Club of Michigan. It was the 37th institute co-sponsored by U of M, the State Department of Public Instruction and auto club to qualify Michigan teachers as driver education instructors. Scholarships for the week-long institute covered the cost of tuition, lodgin, meals and materials. The 1966 graduates joined 2,200 driver education instructors in Michigan. During the 1966-67 school year, they were going to teach approximately 155,000 youths at 525 high schools how to drive.
