CAPTION: Onaway High School's homecoming weekend was filled with bright happiness in spite of the cold and rain that tried in vain to dampen the students' and fans' spirits. The homecoming queen, Pat Stoyka was chosen from eight lovely candidates and the football team scored a resounding homecoming victory. Although Friday afternoon's cold, wet air and dark skies made the day less than perfect for a parade, marchers, floats and queen candidates made their way down State Street. The junior class, winners of the float competition, borrowed a television idea and encouraged Onaway to gong the Kalkaska Blue Blazers. In other Onaway news, skunks were a problem. At the State Theater, "Bad News Bears Go to Japan" was showing with one nightly performance at 7:30 p.m.
