CAPTION: The sound of boat whistles and the sight of smoike rising from the stacks of the newly painted vessels berthed in the layup harbor at the Port of Calcite. It signaled the opening of the 1976 shipping season. The steamer Irvin L. Clymer was pulled into the loading slip and took on limestone, expecting to sail for Port Huron. The W.F. White was supposed to be the second ship of the season in.
