Caption: The old Onaway State Savings Bank building after the bank closed. The post office was later located in the building.
This week's photo is at the intersection of South Elm Street and State Street where Citizens National Bank now stands.
This building was built as the Onaway State Savings Bank. The bank had closed their doors at the time of this picture. Robert Monfort M.D. had his office in the second story. We believe the gentleman in the center window is Dr. Monfort. The dentist was also advertised as being upstairs. The entrance to the upstairs is on the far right.
The annual Onaway Dairy picnic, at the state park, is advertised on the big window. We believe the date is early 1930s.
This building was also the Onaway post office when I went to work as a sub mail carrier for Bud Stout in 1961. Virgil Peacock was the postmaster at that time.
This photo came to us from Ed Church.
