Charlie Schaar Wins First Boys' Basketball Game in 1965 From Presque Isle County Advance and Onaway Outlook Dec. 10, 2015

  

  
CAPTION:  Onaway Boys' basketball coach Charlie Schaar had the Onaway goys' riding high with a 71-56 win over Alcona.
It was Charlie's first win as head coach and the Cards evened their record at 1-1.  The Tigers led in the game, 23-18,
but Tom Gray kept Onaway in the game with nine points in the first.  The Cards outscored the Tigers in the second, 21-11, 
and took a 39-34 halftime lead.  They outscored Alcona 32-22 in the second half. Bill Badgero had 11 points, while Jim
Fusee pumped in 17, 10 in the fourth quarter.  The Cards were hosting Cheboygan in a Saturday night game 50 years ago.
