I just received a nice picture of a group of children and the teacher in front of the Whaley School before it was moved to Ping Pong Corners and became the Hackett Lake School.
We know that the teacher is Mary (Bannatyne) Wiltshire, who was fresh out of Onaway County Normal and took the job at the Whaley School. We don't have the students' names in order and we don't know all of them, but we do know that at this time there were Websters, Smiths, Burnels, Whaleys, Crooks, Skinners, Montgomerys and Hillikers going to the Whaley School.
Take note of the children sitting on the long bench, undoubtedly from inside the school. Also note that everyone has high button shoes on.
The teacher, Mary Bannatyne, is Don Wiltshire's mother. Thanks to Don and Adeline for adding the nice picture to our school history collection.
