Alcona County Review, Harrisville, MI 15 Jan 1953 Page 1 Mrs. Anna E. BALDWIN Mrs. Anna E. BALDWIN, aged 94 years, of Barton City, died Wednesday, January 14, 1963, at a Traverse City hospital. She entered the hospital two years ago. Anna E. WILBUR was the daughter of Steven and Emily WILBUR, born November 3, 1858 at Belding, Michigan. She lived there until her marriage on July 10, 1879, to Edwin BALDWIN, who died March 28, 1918. They came to Curran and homesteaded land where she lived until 1926 when she moved to Barton City. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grand Rapids.Surviving are four sons and one daughter, Leonard of Cedar Springs, Clarence of Barton City; Vernon of Grand Rapids; Burt of Newberry, and Mrs. Alva CARTRIGHT of Grand Ledge. There are 23 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Six grandchildren will act as pallbearers at funeral services which will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, from the Smith Funeral Home. Rev. Clair GLEASON will officiate and burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, Lincoln. She was 94 years old and had been in ill health for two years. Mrs. Baldwin was the former Anna WILBUR, the daughter of Steven and Emily WILBUR.
 
She was born November 3, 1858 in Belding, MI.She spent her girlhood in Orleans, Ionia County. She married Edwin BALDWIN in that county July 10, 1878. In 1884 with their three small children Mr. and Mrs. BALDWIN started out in a covered wagon drawn by oxen for northern Michigan. They settled in what is now Mitchell Township. They built a log cabin and settled down to a lonely existence as the county was sparsely populated at that time. For an 18 month period Mrs. BALDWIN did not see another white woman. Mr. BALDWIN preceeded his wife in death March 28, 1918. Mrs. BALDWIN was a member of the First Baptist church of Grand Rapids. Survivors are five children. Mrs. Elva CARTWRIGHT of Grand Ledge, Leonard BALDWIN of Cedar Springs, Clarence BALDWIN of Barton City, Vernon BALDWIN of Grand Rapids and Burt BALDWIN of Newberry. Other survivors are 23 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. The Reverand Clare GLEASON will conduct the funeral services Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Smith funeral home in Lincoln. Interment will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln. Grandchildren of the deceased will serve as pallbearers.(Marcia Shears' Note: This is my 2nd great-grandmother.) Alcona County Review, Harrisville, MI 24 Apr 1958 Page 1 Clarence E. Baldwin Funeral services for Clarence E. BALDWIN of Barton City were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Rev. Clare GLEASON of Killmaster, officiated and burial took place in Twin Lakes cemetery, Lincoln.Mr. BALDWIN died at 2:24 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 1958, at the Alpena General Hospital where he had been entered on April 1, following a heart attack.Mr. Baldwin was born in Mitchell Township, Alcona County, on October 13, 1886, and lived his entire life there. He lived in the present home for the past 35 years. He was the son of the late Edward and Annie GURNSEY BALDWIN. On November 7, 1908 he married Nina Elizabeth MOHL at Cadillac, Michigan. He served as Millen Township school treasurer for 21 years, and as Highway Commissioner for a number of years. He followed the lumber woods and also engaged in farming during his lifetime. His widow and ten children survive, seven daughters and three sons, Mrs. Lloyd BERRY (Gladys) of Sterling; Mrs. Ada DELLAR of Harrisville, Mrs. Walter LINCOLN, (Edna) of Harrisville, Mrs. Lester VANDALLEN, (Vera) of Belmont, Michigan, Mrs. Roy MACPHERSON (Bernice) of Este, Michigan; Mrs. Harold PETTIT, (Opal), Killmaster; Mrs. Gordon STEETER, (Edith) Barton City, Orville BALDWIN, Glennie; Merle, of Barton City; and Marvin of Curran. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Burt of Newberry, Vern of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Elvie CARTWRIGHT of Belding. Serving as pallbearer at the services Sunday, were Ernest BASSELMAN, Ben CHAMPAGNE, Emery McGREGOR, George KOHLER, Wilbur LANE and Wm. Alcona County Review, Harrisville, MI 4 Apr 1918 Page 1 Edwin BALDWIN was born Dec. 9, 1854, at Oakland, Mich., and died at his home in Millen township March 28th, at 4 p.m., from apoplexy. He had resided in Alcona county since 1883, coming here from Gratiot county, Michigan. He was married to Miss Anna WILBUR July 10, 1878, in Ionia county, and besides his widow he leaves four sons and two daughters. They are Leonard and Clarence of Millen township, Burt and Vern at home, Mrs Ella CARLON of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Mable DAGENAIS of Flint. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 2nd, at 10 a.m. from the home, with Rev. BROWN in charge. Interment in Lincoln cemetery.(Marcia Shears' Note: Edwin BALDWIN was my 2nd great-grandfather. BALDWIN, 79, of Curran, died Wednesday, Jan 31, 2001 at his residence.He was born July 31, 1921 in Barton City to Clarence and Nina BALDWIN. He lived all his life in Alcona County. He married Phyllis M. BUGG on April 10, 1945 in Harrisville. He worked as a logging contractor and enjoyed gardening and fishing. Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Sally (Leroy) YODER of Curran, and Peggy BALDWIN of Lincoln; one son, Allan (Dianne) BALDWIN of Lewiston, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Duane YODER, Corey (Becky) YODER, Kriss (Charlie) BROOKS, Joshua (Tonya) BALDWIN, Stephanie (Mark) MORRIS, Jennifer DELLAR, Sandra (Dave) ZAL, Loren and Eric DELLAR; four great-grandchildren, Thomas YODER, Kodie YODER, Josalyn BALDWIN, Cejay YODER; three sisters, Bernice (Roy) McPHERSON of Rhodes, Mich., Opal (Leroy) BRABB of Oscoda, and Edith (Gordon) STREETER of Flint, Mich. Mr. Baldwin was preceded in death by one son, Thomas BALDWIN; four sisters, Gladys, Ada, Vera, Edna; and two brothers, Orville and Meryl.A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Robert MARTZ, was held Monday, Feb 5 at the Orr Funeral Home in Mio. Burial will be in Mitchell Township Cemetery in Curran.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Sunrise Shore, Alpena."  
 
Alcona County Review Harrisville, MI 17 Dec 1964 Page 4 Milton C. BALDWIN Milton G. BALDWIN of Barton City, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Clarence BALDWIN on Kohler Road, Barton City, Sunday. He had been ill for three days following a coronary attack. Mr Baldwin was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry BALDWIN. His wife preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Duane BALDWIN, of Gary, Indiana.The body was taken to the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac, Michigan from Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln and funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 16 with interment in Maple Hill Cemetery in that city.
