Taylor Hunt got clubbed and robbed at his own house on Friday January 21, 1910.

Marshal Shears, Deputy-Sheriff Bert Cooper & Sherriff Ferris of Allegan investigate.

Detective W.A. Shay from Grand Rapids, Prosecuter Hoffman & former Deputy Sheriff Barney examined and questioned Hunt.

Detective Shay & constable Wilson located a number of Otsego men in a Kalamazoo house of ill repute to question.

Etheridge was taken to his cell and questioned by Hoffman commenting that Henry Brinkert gave him $40 Saturday morning.

Henry Brinkert confessed that he, Billy Root and Carl Ethridge planned together on the intention of getting some money.

Alone, Brinkert hit Taylor Hunt on the head with the blunt end of an axe and took money out of his pocket.

Court case is described on the right. Numerous times Judge Padgham said that Brinkert saved the county a lot of money because he confessed and didn't have to stand trial. Also, he didn't kill Taylor Hunt so he won't have to serve a life sentence.

Brinkert was sentenced to 10-15 years of hard labor at Jackson state prison for conspiracy and clubbing an old man.

Ethridge was sentenced to 7-15 years at Ionia state prison for conspiracy to rob an old man.

Root was sentenced to 7-15 years at the Ionia state house of correction for conspiracy to rob an old man.
