Alpena Central High School Fire, ca. 1938-1939 |
This postcard of the High School was done in 1934, just six years before the fire.
Gloria Schreiner Burns was gracious enough to provide Alpena GenWeb with a scan of her photo of the high school burning.
According to the history by Tim Pollard, Central High School had elementary school classes on the first floor and high school classes on the second floor.
The new High School, after Central was rebuilt, opening in September 1942.
The school acted as Thunder Bay Junior High School until 1999, in which a new school building was opened.
