Mrs. Edward St. Arnold, an aged widow, was the victim of a shocking and fatal accident Wednesday. A short time before night she was noticed to pass by A. Bachand's place on her way home which is only a short distance away. About ten minutes later Mrs. Bachand went to see her, as she frequently does, and was horrified to find the old woman enveloped in flames, the clothing being all on fire. The flames were extinguished as soon as possible, but she died from the effects of the injuries Thursday noon. It is supposed that she undertook to build a fire and in doing so the flames caught in some vailing she wore around her head and being rather feeble was unable to prevent them from communicating with the rest of her clothing. The funeral will probably be held today. Mrs. St. Arnold was about 85 years of age and the mother a large family [sic], of whom, Henry, Edward, John and Theodore St. Arnold, and Mrs. Bachand and Mrs. Holliday are now living.
