                               ELLEN M. PATTERSON

     Ellen M. Wells was born in Sunfield, Michigan, May 24, 1844, and
passed away at her home in Vermontville, March 25, 1921:

     She was united in marriage to Hollis Y. Patterson, July 4th, 1868, who
passed to the beyond only a few weeks previous.  To this union was born
eight children, five are left to mourn their loss.  Henry, Homer and Jesse
Patterson, Cora Cook and Bernice Smith, all living in Eaton County, eight
Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren, two brothers, John Wells of
Battle Creek and William Wells of Woodbury, besides a host of relatives and
friends to mourn her demise.

     Funeral was held at the home, March 25th and burial North of town in
the Patterson Family Cemetery.
