(Wing) Jackel, 86, of Pigeon, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Born in Pigeon on June 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Emma (Haist) Wing. Idella worked at Packard Motors during World War II. After the war, she worked at Knelly and Sistman in Detroit, as well as Bauer Roller Bearing. She worked at Wallace and Morley as a bookkeeper for six years, and the Pigeon Hotel. She also worked for several other places during her life. Idella dearly loved her family and friends and her beloved cat, Buttons. Her passion was working puzzles. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Pigeon. Surviving are her daughter, Geraldine Poynton, of Pigeon; a grandson, Brian Poynton, of Pigeon; more than 20 nieces and nephews and more than 30 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alvernia Wing; four brothers, Otis, Olin, Archie and Roy Wing; a half-sister, Barbara Limberger; and four half-brothers, Leonard, Norman, Rolland and Dave Wing. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2005, at Salem United Methodist Church in Pigeon. The Rev. Michael T. Sawicki, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church. Loren Mast Loren Mast, 83, of McHenry, Illinois and formerly of Sebewaing, died Thursday, October 20, 2005, in McHenry. Loren was the son of the late Orvil and Emma (Brandenburg) Mast. Surviving are one son, David B. and his wife, Adrienne, Mast; one granddaughter, Amy (Jay) York; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Sydney and Carson; one sister, Marian (Marlin) Rathje, Pigeon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, in 1999, and one brother, Donald Mast. The funeral service will be conducted at 5 p.m. today, October 23, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church, 4206 W. Elm Street, McHenry, Illinois. A graveside committal service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at Silverlawn Cemetery in Sebewaing. The Rev. Daniel Hahn will officiate. Monday, October 24, 2005 Steve J. Bambach Steve Bambach, 85, of Bad Axe and formerly of Elkton, died Saturday, October 22, 2005, at Courtney Manor Nursing Home. He was born December 27, 1919 in Meade Township to the late John and Sophia (Young) Bambach. Mr. Bambach was united in marriage to Eleanor Williams on May 28, 1966 in Pigeon. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II where he held the rank of First Class Airman. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Steve farmed in Meade Township for 10 years and worked for his brother, Nick, as a carpenter for 15 years. He was then self-employed as a carpenter until he retired. Steve enjoyed being a carpenter and doing crafts and gardening. Mr. Bambach is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his daughter, Melissa McCarty and her husband, Darcy, of Caseville; and three step-sons, Marvin Thompson and his wife, Donna, of Redford Township, Duane Thompson, of Herndon, Virginia, and Ronald Thompson and his wife, Mary Beth, of Tustin; two grandchildren, Shawn and Kaylee O'Connor; 10 step-grandchildren, Trace, Jerry, Eric, Kari, Kevin, Sarah, Tim, Andrew, Michael, Caroline; and two step-great-grandchildren, Alexis and Louie; four sisters, Edna McGee, of Bad Axe, Margaret Fritz and her husband, Matt, of Elkton, Sophia Feibig and her husband, Edger, of Grand Rapids, and Marie McLellan, of Lake Worth, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Susan Baro, Ann Kaatz, Helen Binder and an infant, Lena; six brothers, Joseph Michael, Peter, Max, Nicholas, and John Bambach. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Officiating was Fr. Robert Shine. Pallbearers were all the grandchildren. Burial is at the Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe handled the arrangements. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe. Tuesday, October 25, 2005 Constance L. Arntz Constance L. Arntz, 57, of Bad Axe, passed away Monday, October 24, 2005, at Genesys Health Park in Grand Blanc. She was born September 25, 1948 to the late Vincent and Evelyn (Bannick) Maurer of Bad Axe. Constance, at one time, was employed at the George E. Greene Elementary School, Huron Daily Tribune, and Murphy's Bakery in Bad Axe. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Robert and his wife, Mary, of Bad Axe, and Shawn, of Bad Axe; daughters, Suzanne Glidden and Michele Mackowiak, of Bad Axe; brothers, James, of Colfax Township, Don and his wife, Lila, of Elkton, Rick and his wife, Debbie, of Bad Axe, Randy, of Bad Axe; sisters, Della Anderson and her husband, Bill, of Grand Blanc, Sherry Roberts and her husband, Doug, of Oak Beach, Trudy Brenner and her husband, Joe, of Elkton, and Julie Craig and her husband, Gregory, of Bad Axe; grandchildren, Heather Mackowiak, Connor Glidden, Logan and Hannah Arntz. She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Ferris; nephew, Steven Ferris and a niece, Corinna Anderson. Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund. Thomas E. Smithers Mr. Thomas E. Smithers, 70, of Ubly, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2005, surrounded by his loving family at his residence under hospice care. He was born May 2, 1935 in Colfax Township to the late John Willis and Mary (Knoll) Smithers. He married Jean F. Schramke on August 11, 1956 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly. Tom attended the Ubly schools and had continuous training in the field of mechanics. Before marriage, he served in the Merchant Marines, sailing the Great Lakes. He worked as a mechanic for most of his life. His last 20 years of employment were with the Huron County Road Commission. Disabled in 1991, he adjusted to life as a professional grandpa to his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Ubly. He treasured over 40 years with special friends, playing euchre in their card club. He loved to visit the casinos and travel throughout northern Michigan. Tom is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean F. Smithers, of Ubly; his children, Pamela J. Maurer and her husband, Randy, of Ubly, James T. Smithers, of Bad Axe, Gerald W. Smithers and his wife, Arlene, of Bad Axe, Michael A. Smithers and his significant other, Anna Braun, of Ubly, Lisa M. Lemke and her husband, Jeffery, of Ubly; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John W. Smithers and his wife, Marilyn, of Elkton; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Willis (infant) and Howard J. Smithers. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church only. Wednesday, October 26, 2005 Phillip Alexander Misico Phillip Alexander Misico, 60, of Tampa and Otter Creek, Florida, died on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Tampa General Hospital. We trust he is with his mother and both are in the embrace of God. He was born April 21, 1945 to John J. and Lila (Shevchenko) Misico. Phillip graduated from Ubly High School and worked in Detroit. He married Norma Wack and moved to Tampa, where they helped raise her young brothers and sisters. He married Wanita Groutage Irwin on July 29, 1989 on an island off the coast of Florida and was employed by Basset Engineering as a draftsman. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Tampa American Legion. Phillip enjoyed visiting with family and friends, fishing, hunting, and roaming his property with his dog, Lucky, at his side. Phillip is survived by his wife, Wanita, Tampa, Florida; his father, John J. Bartlett, 54, of Grindstone, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at her home. She was born on March 20, 1951 in Detroit, daughter of the late George and Bernice (Radomski) Porzondek. Belinda and Dennis Bartlett were married on August 20, 1969 in Detroit. Belinda and her husband owned and operated the Grindstone General Store for 20 years. She was a substitute teacher around Huron County and loved spending time with her family, playing bingo, growing flowers, gardening, and fishing. She was a member of the American Legion Frank Horetski Post No. 499 in Port Austin and the Grindstone Port Hope Sportsmen's Club. Belinda is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Grindstone; two sons, Dennis and Christopher, both students at Ferris State University; three brothers, Martin (Susan) Porzondek, of Grindstone, Frank (Mary Ann)Porzondek, of Port Hope, and Harry (Darlene) Porzondek, of Summerfield, Florida; two brothers-in- law, James (Delores) Bartlett, of Almont, and Charles Bartlett, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Larry, and Daniel Porzondek; and her brother-in-law, Christopher Bartlett. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert P. Garrett. Burial will follow in New River Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted from 2 to 9 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Aleta Wills Aleta Wills, of Bad Axe, died Thursday evening, October 27, 2005, at Courtney Manor after a long illness. Tentative services are scheduled for Monday, October 31, 2005, and are being handled by the H. W. Weitenberner Funeral Home.
