Cletus A. Guza   
December 19, 1929 – August 5, 1989
Cletus A. Guza, 59, Harbor Beach, well-known local musician and township 
official, died Saturday, August 5, 1989 at Huron Memorial Hospital, Bad Axe, 
after an apparent heart attack.  He was born December 19, 1929 in Hamtramck, 
son of Elizabeth (Swartz) Guza and the late Edmund Guza.  He married Shirley 
Lemanski, April 20, 1963.  Mr. Guza attended Harbor Beach Kipper Rural School 
and was a 2948 graduate of Our Lady of Lake Huron High School.  He was a 
lifelong resident of Sigel Township and was the township clerk for 27 years.  
Mr. Guza farmed in Sigel Township for 30 years, and retired in 1987.  He was a 
member of the National Farmers Organization and a winner of the 
Outstanding “Conservator” Award in the Huron County Soil Conservation Group.  
Mr. Guza was the leader of the “Guza Trio” playing the accordion for 41 years 
at many functions throughout Huron and Sanilac Counties.  He was a winner and a 
participant in many area horseshoe tournaments.  Mr. Guza also was a financial 
supporter and marcher in the Washington, D.C. for the Right to Life Movement.  
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parisville, a member of 
the St. Mary’s Men’s Club and served on the board of education for St. Mary’s 
School.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley, Harbor Beach; three sons, Steven Guza, Daniel 
Guza and Terry Guza, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Mary Jo) Roggenbuck, 
Harbor Beach, Deborah Guza and Jeanne Guza, at home; three grandchildren; his 
mother, Elizabeth Guza, Parisville, three brothers, Edmund Guza, Harbor Beach 
Melnard Guza, Bad Axe and Martin Guza, Ruth; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Clara) 
Booms, Madison Heifhts, and Mrs. George (Frances) Lawrence, Burt.

Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Rev. Leonard 
Wilkuski, pastor, officiated.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Published
