Carlysle Everatt Shafer September 7, 1918 - December 2, 2006 KIMBALL - Carlysle E. "Carl" Shafer, age 88, of Kimball died Saturday, December 02, 2006 in Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was born September 7, 1918 in Port Huron and was a life long area resident. He married Theresa Hill on June 16, 1990 in Port Huron. Carl served his country during WWII. He worked for the New Haven Foundry for 25 years retiring December 31, 1979 as a supervisor for loss control. Carl was a member of the VFW May O'Brien Post and the American Legion Charles A. Hammond Post 8. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Shafer of Kimball; three sons, Lyle (Barb) Shafer of Port Huron Twp, Don (Jean) Shafer of Georgia, and Ronald (Beverly) Shafer of Kimball; seven step-children, Kathleen (Bill) Smart of Kimball, Glenda (Roger) Rose of Kimball, Patrick (Kathy) Carnahan of Avoca, Glenn Carna-han of Kimball, Frank (Paula) Hill of Kimball, Edward (Kimberly) Hill of Port Huron, and Grace (Jeff) Geister of Port Huron; a brother, Don (Loraine) Gage of Port Huron Twp; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two special great-great grandchildren, Destiny and Zachary, and many other great-great grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Agnes Shafer and Matilda Shafer, and a daughter, Rose LaGrange. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - South, 1230 7th Street with The Rev. David Caswell officiating. A graveside committal service will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans. Pallbearers will be Jeff Geister, Glen Rose, Scott Frizzle, William Smart, Michael LaGrange, Keith Shafer, Robert Rose, and Katianne Schambre. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Rose II, Cody Rose, and Alfred Kester Jr. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and one hour before the service on Tuesday.
