Ionia Sentinel Standard, 4 May 1982

Private family funeral services were held Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the
Leddick Funeral Home for Winfred J. Alexander, age 60 of ones Street Ionia.  He
died at his residence Saturday morning.  He was born in Alto, Michigan on
September 21, 1921, the son of George and Edna Johnson Alexander.  He attended
schools in Alto and Lowell, graduating from Lowell High School

He entered service during World War II in 1942, served with the U.S. Army in the
Pacific area and was discharged from service in 1946.

He was married to Blanche E. Hallett in December of 1942.  They have made their
home in Ionia since that time.  He had worked as an auto mechanic for Joe Lyons
Pontiac in many years and then for Bergers’ Motor Sales until retiring in 1976.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; two sons, James of Greenville and Wayne of
Ionia; one granddaughter; two brothers, John and Stan, both of Grand Rapids; one
sister Mrs. William (Dorothy) McCarthy, also of Grand Rapids.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Carl Hausermann of the First United
Methodist Church, Organist was Mrs. Josephine Barna.  Burial was in Easton
Cemetery.
