Barnhart, 41, 240 Grape Street, Portland, died Thursday at St. Lawrence hospital in Lansing. Mr. Barnhart was superintendent of maintenance and construction of the Wolverine Tri-County Electric 12 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic church, church committee and helped organize the St. Patrick’s’ school drive. He was also one of the captains of the Bishop Diocesan Development fund. Mr. Barnhart was active in many civic organizations. He was a member o the Village of Portland panning board and manager of the Little League Rowena Rockets. He was a past grand knight of Knights of Columbus council No. 2168. Surviving are his wife, Arvilla; one son, Jay; his father, Clyde Barnhart of Decatur; four sisters, Mrs. Irwin Bret of Orton Grove, Ill., Mrs. Frank Adduci of Three Rivers, Mrs. Peter Goud of South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Henry Taylor of Decatur; two brothers, Kenneth Barnhart of Milwaukee, Wis., and SFC Orville Barnhart of Fort Hood, Texas. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Neller funeral home in Portland. Funeral will be at the St. Patrick’s Catholic church Monday at 9:30 a.m. Burial at Portland cemetery.
