Ionia Sentinel Standard, 25 May 2002

Gertrude Berndt, 88, of Ionia, passed away May 21, 2002 in Ionia.  She was born 
October 19, 1913 in Coral, the daughter of William and Chloe Liles Morris.

She would go on to marry Emerson Berndt.  Gertrude was a member of First 
Baptist Church in Ionia, Big Bay Community Presbyterian Church, and the Ladies 
Aid Society.

She is survived by her husband Emerson, of Ionia; daughter Louise Berndt of 
Italy; one grand-daughter, Eleanora of Italy.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Big Bay Presbyterian Church, 
in Big Bay, with Rev. William Payne officiating.  Visitation is noon to 1 p.m. 
at the church.  Interment Powell Township Cemetery.  Anyone wishing may make 
memorial contributions to Big Bay Presbyterian Church or Ladies Aid Society.
